Our creative energy

Hi everyone

What a creative week! The students have loved reading plays and performing their own shows. In the K2 Pod we have a stage and lights and this has been an attraction for our budding actors in KrM. We have begun exploring many different performances and the students enjoyed using the stage in the auditorium this week to experience what the audience would see and how to make your voice and movements larger on stage.

Anaika, Haoting, Sandra, Harvey, Mahi and Emilyn worked together to write the script for our show and we will be creating our props and backdrop next week. The class are excited to take on their roles in our performance as musicians, narrators, actors and dancers. Here is a peek into the fun we are having exploring movement and dance with our Grade 3 buddies. It is only a little sneak preview as we would like our show to be a surprise for you. Exciting times ahead :) On our way to the auditorium the Grade 4 Star Wars exhibition attracted the attention on KrM. we have asked  Mr Betts if we can visit his art room to hear all about how his classes created their models using steam punk. Mr Betts invited us to his room today which was a wonderful surprise for the class and the experience will probably be a stimulus for our own creations.

Our number thinking has been fantastic and the students have been playing addition games and sharing with their maths buddy how they are solving the problem. It has been great to see the students breaking down numbers, holding numbers in their heads and counting on so confidently.

Next week we will be focusing on using our reading books to practise our skills at retelling stories and writing our own versions. These stories are great as they give us ideas in our discovery times too. The students have been very inventive using Puppet Pals on the iPads to create their own puppet shows and stories, their focus on the beginning, middle and end of their shows have been great to see.

We are all looking forward to our field trip next Friday. Thanks you to our volunteers who are helping with this adventure. The class will be observing the animals in the mangrove area and sketching the habitat in their thinking journals. The trip will provoke lots of discussion and questions at home and school. Please remember to send their snack, hats, water bottles and apply suncream and mosquito patches/spray before the students come to school.

Thank you to Liz for the tasty truffles in this weeks cooking time. The chocolate faces said it all !
Please sign up, both for the activities and the celebrations in KrM.
