WOW, what a wonderful week :)

Hi everyone

Thank you to Monica and Angie for a fantastic Mid-Autumn Festival in class today. The class enjoyed making a lantern picture and worked together to make a folded lantern. The moon cakes were a treat for us all as well, thank you to Emma's family for the Moon Cakes.

The students have been excited to bring home their 100 square jigsaws and they have been exploring numbers that are 1 more and 1 less in class. This is a great resource to use for games and counting forwards and backwards at home, please ask your child to share this with you. We have been looking at patterns we can see in the rows and columns of the 100 square which is great fun to do.

Our stories this week have been focusing on a beginning, middle and end. The creativity in class has been endless as we became authors and wrote our own version of the Three Billy goats Gruff. There has been lots of reasons to write during our Discovery Times as the groups have made a Dinosaur Land, Railway Stations, a new UWCSEA school in India, an animal hospital and lots more. This has prompted lists, money, credit cards and many detailed drawings and designs. In Discovery times we have been investigating what happens to different materials in water. These investigations led to great conversations about weight and sinking objects. We also explored different coloured transparent strips and discovered that as a Ninja Turtle wearing  a mask with different colours what we could see changed.

Next Monday 5th October is our class photo.

On Monday we are celebrating Service Day in school. In K2 we are turning ourselves into a Superhero and thinking about who are the heroes in our school too. We will be making masks and recording their ideas to share, but if the students have any superhero masks they wish to bring in to help them in their transformation they are welcome to do so. This is a great discussion over the weekend as to how they can use their powers to be of help and service to others at home and in school.

We had a lot of excitement at the end of the day hearing that Smili and Bobby were going home with Sandra and Tom. Have a lovely weekend together.

Thanks
Mrs M & Ms Sally
